Oh Crap ….

paleoAs we head warp speed into the Christmas / New Year’s holidays and celebrations, this advice from Ben Warren at our sister box (or would that be a Bro Box? hmmm..) at Adapt CrossFit in Belconnen, Australia really hit home … I am so guilty …

And I’ve INKED my schedule to be at the gym Friday & Saturday after reading this – thanks for the kick in the ‘arse’ Ben!

Work’s so busy right now that you skip a few sessions at the box and all of a sudden a week has passed with no sessions at all. The weekend’s fast approaching and you’ve got a work xmas party on Friday at lunch, your partner’s work party on Friday night and then a family get-together on Saturday… Over the course of the week and the weekend you haven’t trained at all and I’m sure you’ll have had more than your fair share of drinks, cakes and brandy flavoured custard.

All of a sudden that very thin emotional thread that’s just holding everything together breaks and this is where things fall apart. You’re no longer in charge of your emotions and your stressful situations start to takes their toll on you.

It’s easy to get lazy. It’s easy to skip a session here and there and then write it off by saying” well it’s the end of the year… I’ll just start em back up next year…” You’re so tired and stressed out that it’s all too easy to hit the workplace chocolate stand (for that much-needed energy boost) or to forget about your stresses by getting on the piss at your next Xmas party but you already know how that ends – Sugar makes it worst and alcohol well, you’ve got to wake up the next day…

My encouragement to you would be don’t be that guy or girl: Don’t drop the ball and let it all go to crap. Not now. Not this close to 2013… “Don’t go there girlfriend…”

It’s right now at this very moment in time that you that you need to keep it together and you need to be ruthless about protecting how far you’ve actually come in regards to your health and fitness.

Too many people hit the silly season with the attitude that they’ll just work off those extra kilos gained over xmas lunches with work, friends and family but I’m telling you “I don’t think so buddy…”

You need to train and hang out with people that train. You need to eat well and engage within a community that eats well (hang out with your Adapt peeps) train hard and eat even better to ensure you hit the ground running in 2013. At Adapt we want to see you go from strength to strength, not from strength to shit and then back to strength again – Constant progress in a journey where better is better yeah?

How’s your current workout schedule looking now?

Don’t forget – our gym is closed Monday & Tuesday for Christmas, then open to the regular schedule of classes on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – so get your ‘arse‘ in gear, get in here and keep working out!
